This popular tour explores two Berkshire towns located either side of the River Thames - Eton to the north and Royal Windsor to the south. These twin towns (often referred collectively as Windsor & Eton) are connected by Windsor Bridge.

Restaurant backing on to the river Thames.

Eton is one of England's most famous public schools, where the boys are still dressed in traditional black tail coats. There's also the option to see the Kennedy Memorial at Runnymede where King John signed Magna Carta in 1215.

Lots of places to visit for lunch - you might want to try Côte Brasserie right on the Thames - a modern, all-day French brasserie, serving regional specialities and traditional classics. Or there are plenty of traditional English pubs serving tasty snacks and meals.

The Eton Walkway is a 2 mile long, one-hour circular walk connecting 18 points of interest in the town starting at Windsor Bridge. Simply follow the bronze markers to see sites including The King’s Stables, Eton College, the Burning Bush, Herschel Observatory, the Natural History Museum and Museum of Antiquities, St John’s Church.

Tree lined avenue with Windsor Castle in the distance.

Windsor Castle is one of England’s largest royal palaces. See the magnificent State Apartments, containing many great works of art, St George's Chapel (the burial place of many Kings and Queens) and Queen Mary's Dolls’ House, exquisitely perfect to the tiniest detail. Emphasising the royal heritage and regal grandeur of Windsor Great Park, the iconic view down the tree-lined Long Walk, towards Windsor Castle at the far end is one not to be missed.

If your tour coincides with the Changing the Guard ceremony you'll see guards marching through the streets of Windsor on their way to the castle. It's all very English don't you know!

If time permits you have the opportunity to look round Windsor town and pick up a souvenir or two. Should you bump into a man in a crown it's 'Your Royal Highness' on the first occasion and 'Sir' thereafter!

†Please note that Windsor Castle is not open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Our customers say...
"Thanks for taking our clients/my relatives to Windsor and Hampton Court on Thursday. They really enjoyed the day with you. They particularly enjoyed seeing your old school and some of the more unusual parts of London"
Andrew - On behalf of Great British Trips
"We wanted to see southern England and end up in Bath – and thanks to David, we went where we wanted, when we wanted. The cost was little more than the alternatives, and the convenience alone was worth every penny. On top of it all, David is an interesting, knowledgeable and amusing companion who provided us with a stress-free, enjoyable day from start to finish. We recommend him highly"
