Timber framed and red tiled house.

The medieval market town of Stratford-upon-Avon is the 16th century birthplace of playwright William Shakespeare. See Shakespeare's birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage, Memorial Theatre & 14th century Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried just below the altar in the Chancel. Hall's Croft is worth a visit if there's time - it was owned by Shakespeare's daughter Susanna Hall, and her husband Dr John Hall whom she married in 1607.

Also Harvard House, the childhood home of the mother of John Harvard, benefactor of Harvard University and built by his grandfather Thomas Rogers in 1596.

If Stratford's bringing back exam nightmares then alternatively we can visit either the medieval Warwick Castle or the university city of Oxford.

The battlements on a sunny day.

Warwick Castle as we see it today dates back to the medieavl period but there has been a fort on the grounds since the times of William the Conqueror. Tour the castle and grounds or even stay over night. Lots of events happen at the castle so please enquire as to what's on. Lots to keep the kids occupied too!

Exterior bathed in sunlight.

Our trips to the magnificient university town of Oxford are always a hit – and whether you want to go punting, shopping, or sightseeing. See the magnificent 'dreaming spires', the University buildings, or pehaps the wonderful Bodleian Library or Ashmolean Museum – let our tour to Oxford show you some of the sites in this wonderful historic city.

You might recognise much of the city from the popular TV show Inspector Morse which was filmed here.

For lunch we can take you to a traditional English country pub. We quite like the Queen's Head in Stow-on-the-Wold - good food and a great atmosphere.

Then it's off to the Cotswolds for the second part of your day tour. The Cotswolds: an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty that includes some of the most lovely and 'chocolate box' countryside in England. Gentle rolling hills and honey coloured limestone villages complete with churches and traditional pubs, beautiful gardens, Regency Spa towns and historic monuments can all be found here. Tour the picturesque villages and landscape in the comfort of a luxury vehicle with an experienced driver guide.

Bridge over the river Coln with Cotswold stone cottages.

Which locations to include in a day tour? You will be spoilt for choice (so why not visit for longer, we can arrange accommodation!). We will tailor your tour: why not include some of the better known attractions but do take in some of the pretty Cotswold villages, such as Bilbury on the River Coin, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Stow on the Wold or Bourton-on-the-Water, and of course, a pub lunch.

Exterior view of the English Baraque architecture.

Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire is the home of the Duke of Marlborough, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and a World Heritage Site. Set in 2000 acres of lovely scenery, this Baroque palace offers imposing architecture and exquisite interiors, artworks and exhibitions. A very popular addition to a tour of the Cotwolds.

Our customers say...
"We have engaged David on our last three trips to Britain and continue to be delighted with his service. His van is clean and comfortable; he's always right on time; and we can count on him to plan interesting itineraries for us. He's an informative tour guide, giving us just the right amount of information without being too loquacious. He's eager to please, and willing to alter the tour on the fly if interesting alternatives present themselves. I am happy to give David my most enthusiastic recommendation - you won't be disappointed"

"My mother and I have used David's expertise and experience. His sense of journey, knowledge of hidden jewels in the countryside, and endeavor to route your travel into a fairytale makes one feel unique and cared for with the highest thoughtfulness. We have used his other drivers for intermediate occasions and they too, were fantastic. We're starting our fourth tour with London Country Tours in the fall"
